Speed Bumps of Life

The hard moments rarely last as long as we think they will.

Hey gang!

Over the years, I’ve learned that life is full of speed bumps. In the moment, they feel massive. Looking back, they usually become small chapters in a much bigger story.

I lost $200,000 when a gym I opened failed. I had personal guarantees attached to it. At the time, it felt devastating. I tore my MCL in 2016 and genuinely questioned whether I’d ever run normally again. Both experiences felt overwhelming while I was living through them.

Looking back they feel like speed bumps.

That doesn’t mean those moments were easy. It simply means the human mind is incredibly resilient. We adapt. We recover. We move forward. With that I try to keep life simple. I stick to the basics that keep me grounded.

I ALWAYS hit a morning workout.
I ALWAYS surround myself with good people.
I ALWAYS make sure I have things to look forward to, even if it’s something small like an afternoon bike ride.

Your attitude is one of the few things you can fully control. And often, your attitude is connected to the activities, environments, and people that bring you joy.

Hard seasons will pass. Don’t let temporary struggles convince you the story is over. Hope this helps.
